TIPS ON SPRING STYLING YOUR WINTER WARDROBE

TIPS ON SPRING STYLING YOUR WINTER WARDROBE
@Lovedbylizzi

As soon as we see a little sunshine we just want to get our summer wardrobe out, and if you have been in the UK this weekend the temptation was high! One of my girlfriends was completely unimpressed with an instastory I did about wearing flip flops this Saturday; to set the record straight this was only at home, as and when I headed out the hard wear went on, I promise!!

The fact remains that whilst the sun is shining we want our style to be a little lighter, fresher to reflect the mood - but don't be fooled it can easily turn cold or be fresher than you think once you head out the door, so here are a few tips to keep you that little warmer yet fresher and stylishly spring(like).

SWAP YOUR WINTER COAT FOR A THICK BLAZER

Your blazer can be in any colour you want, it's not warm yet to be heading out in a thin jacket, but I have a few thicker (tweed like) blazers that are quite warm to wear. In the photo above I am wearing a blazer from Zara, it's about six (possibly seven) years old now, and it's perfect for early spring as this little jacket keeps me warm and it gives my whole outfit a much lighter feel and yet I am still very snug. Zara have these 'Chanel' dupe style jackets every season in black, navy and cream - so look out next time you are shopping as they are great staple to have, year on year.

ADD A SCARF

Scarves are not just for cold winter days, in fact Spring is the perfect time for wearing them, a versatile item that you can have round your neck if you get a little chilly. Opt for one that's slightly on the bigger side, because say you choose to lunch Al Fresco then this also makes for the perfect wrap whilst you are sitting outside, it's a lot more chilly sitting than walking... plus you will also look very chic!

LAYER UP!

The more thin layers you have on, the more in control you are of keeping cool or staying warm. Cami vests and light knitwear are two types of garments that are perfect fro this time of year. You don't have to go into lighter colours to wear but avoiding big chunky knits under your blazers or lightweight coats  will make you outfit more springlike.

Or you can do the reverse - Ditch the jackets, layer up with cami vests plus a long sleeve t-shirt and then simply wear a spring(like) chunky knit as your outer garment. This can be a great way to add colour to your outfit and you an still layer up further with a scarf.

KEEP YOUR FEET IN HARD WEAR

Yes it's way to early for flip flops - but a good trick is to lighten the colour of your tough shoes. Lighter boots or trainers for that high/low dressing are both great options to stay warm but look cool and fresh.

HANDBAGS - DON'T GET TOO SUMMERY TOO EARLY

As much as possible, especially with the weather so changeable, I would stick with your winter style handbags - this will again denote that you are not quite into the new season, it gives you options to quickly 'winterise' again should you need to quickly swap back into a winter coat if the weather has turned.

My last tip.... add sunglasses whether that's just to act as a headband or you actually wear them, either way it instant chic!
