I'm loving...

In the last couple of weeks I've invested in a few pieces which I'm really loving!  I've purchased Moto boots from New Look, a luxury fine knit top from the Somerset collection by Alice Temperley and one I've yet to wear but it will be making it's debut appearance this Saturday night, is my denim shirt from Mango!

While it's still cold it's hard to think about Spring/Summer clothing but over the next few weeks I'll be writing about what trends are in this season, but for now I'll leave you with these three loveable items!

Dark Denim Shirt
This is not only a great price, it's also a fab fit with soft denim cotton.

Black Triple Buckle Strap Shearling Lined Biker Boots

Or I personally refer to them as Moto Boots
New Look
Was £34.99, now £17.00 (bargain price too which makes me love them MORE!)
Available in black or brown

Pointelle Jumper
Somerset by Alice Temperley (John Lewis)
I've gone for cream, but you can also get it in black
Opt for a tight fit so that the arms create the right effect when you are wearing it

Recipe: Blueberries & Oats Smoothie

I'm writing this post at 8:45 this morning, as I've just tried a new combination of ingredients for a smoothie and I love it - so thought I better share it with you now before I forget it!

Sometimes some smoothies I make are very tasty but are not filling me for up a good few hours, no one wants to be snacking within a couple of hours of their breakfast! So I've been looking at numerous recipes to see what I can do about this.

One suggestion I've read was to add porridge oats - at first I thought "I don't think so" but now that I've seen it on various recipes I thought "let's try it".

So just before bed last night I soaked a third of a mug of gluten-free porridge oats with cold water, and this morning the mug was full to the brim with creamy soft oats.

I added this in with all my other ingredients. Another new ingredient for my breakfast smoothies is coconut milk, for me this makes it creamy and adds a little more sweetness.

All in all I loved it my new recipe - so I hope you will give it a go too!

  • 1/3 mug of soaked gluten-free porridge oats (for at least one-hour or overnight)
  • 1 banana
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1 small green apple
  • 2 teaspoons of Linwoods' milled flax, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame seeds & goji berries
  • Frozen blueberries
  • KoKo brand coconut milk (add depending on the thickness you want)

And then blend.

I realised later in the morning that how would you know whether this filled me up or not?! I can confirm quite happily that I was full till lunchtime :)

Come fly with me - Camel & Leopard print

My travel essentials - via Lovedbylizzi on Instagram

The last few blog posts have included my fabulous Ted Baker camel coat; and I wasn't planning on blogging about it again until I saw a number of articles this week about Victoria Beckham and her stylish chic camel coat that she wore whilst travelling.

Vogue describes her looks as "chic and cozy" and points out her leopard print bag.  This image is from Vogue and you can read the full article here.

Being a huge fan of VB, I'm quite pleased she is copying me, but she's actually copying me twice!!  My recent Instagram image from Venice that shows my Linea leopard print bag - one of my essentials for when I travel!  I love leopard print as it mixes in well whatever your wearing, black, camel or denim.  I use this bag for airport travel, on the beach, shopping or sometimes as an overnight bag - it's my go to bag!

So it looks like camel and leopard print is very much in…. I just may need to invest in some camel trousers ;)

What I Wore - Birthday Celebrations

So I've turned 40.

There, I've said it!

And since turning 40, I have been one very lucky girl!  I've had a surprised weekend trip to Venice with my husband; I've been to Champneys in St Albans, their Day Spa for pampering in preparation for this trip.  And then last night I got to have dinner with ten gorgeous girlfriends - how fabulous is that?!

With so many celebrations, I needed to do quite a bit of prep to make sure I didn't have to worry about what to wear.

It all starts with the basics: good skincare, pedicures, manicures and of course the boring old waxing!!

As I knew I would be wearing several different dresses and outfits over a number of days, I had to think about what would work best to compliment everything.  With gold peep-toe shoes for two of my dresses in orange/red I opted for Victoria Beckham's new nail colour Judo Red by Nails Inc for my pedicure.

And then for my manicure I knew this would feature a lot in the photos so I wanted a dark prominent colour, so I chose a dark plum colour as this is fairly neutral and would work with black, red and camel - the main colours I would be wearing - hopefully you agree in the photos below.

I didn't know I was going to Venice so high-heels were a big mistake!  Never mind, sometimes you have to go with the flow.  The first night I only had to walk around the corner in my platform golds to our restaurant,  the next night though as we had to walk a good 20 mins I opted to wear black boots - although it felt strange it didn't turn out to be too bad.

My red dress above is from Wallis (last season) and the black dress on the right is from Whistles (Autumn 2013).  My gold clutch which I use all the time, is from Linea, House of Fraser (from ages ago) - I love it as it has that vintage feel to it.  All my evening outfits were kept warm with my black faux fur coat.

Daytime saw me in jumpers, jeans and boots with my camel coat - although it was bright and sunny, it was very cold!  But my Ted Baker coat worked perfectly - and I teamed it up with my Chanel sunnies and my Missoni gold scarf which I bought in the sale at Bicester Village (Autumn 2014).

And then to last night, we had dinner in Zaza's in Berkhamsted and I opted to wear colour - I love this bright orange dress, again from Wallis (last season).  I teamed it up with gold accessories with both new and old jewellery.  You'll see my plum JustGel nails from Champneys had lasted 8 days and this was going to be their final outing!

It can be challenging to have numerous outfits over a short amount of days; as you don't want to look the same in every photo but with a good range of versatile accessories, this lets you mix and match with different outfits which really helps.

I didn't purchase any new dresses for my nights out - sometimes the ones we have hanging in our wardrobes are just perfect!
